Jesus Christ, the fairest of 10,000.
Testimony –
He was born in a God-fearing parents family. However he felt bitter against God. The family has financial problem and even food was a luxury to them. He tried to pretend good christian. He was always depressed and angry and felt God is not taking care of him. He felt dirty as he was in his addicts. He chanced upon Pastor Prince’s sermons. He thank the Lord Jesus that He took it upon Himself that he does not need to take the punishment in his life. His addicts of pornography was gone!

Our God is a good God. He is a God of second chance. No matter how many times you have failed, His mercy endures forever!
God is good. God can only be good if it is tied up with His mercy. We are not good in and of ourselves. His goodness can be experienced by us because of His grace.
The word mercy is hesed.
It is because of God’s grace that we can experience the goodness of God.
God is for you, not against you!
His anger towards your disobedience has been punished at the cross.
You are a child of God, the righteousness of God in Christ.
The gospel of grace!
The gospel is also known as the gospel of peace.
Grace and peace from God, our Father.
God is willing to give up His Son to die on the cross so that you and I can be saved. He is willing to give up Jesus, what would He not willing to do for you today
Having been justified by faith, we have peace with God.
Grace and peace to you, from God, our Father.
He is our Father. Peace is important. It is a gift from God.
Hebrews 4
Let us fear lest anyone come short of that rest.
Matthew 11:28-30
Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
Are you burden today?
Are you facing a raging tempest in your life?
He will still that storm.
Every time you come to God, God will give you rest.
Take my yoke upon you, and learn from Me.
Find rest for your soul
Easy and light.
The yoke of the Lord is easy and light
Learn from Me. Jesus said learn from Me
For He is gentle and lowly in heart
You will find rest for your soul
Learn this –
Jesus is gentle and lowly in heart
You will find a rest for your soul.
What does it means to be gentle and lowly in heart?
Greek word for gentle is praus
Matthew 21:5
“Tell the daughter of Zion,
‘Behold, your King is coming to you,
Lowly (humble, gentle; praus), and sitting on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.’ ”
This king is a different king. He is a humble, gentle king. He comes sitting on a donkey.
He has all authority, power, health, wisdom, the Creator of this universe.
He sat on a donkey because He chose to be humble and lowly.
He chose because He wanted to be humble and lowly to serve you.
He chose to serve you because He loves you.
Zechariah 9:9
“Rejoice greatly, O daughter of Zion!
Shout, O daughter of Jerusalem!
Behold, your King is coming to you;
He is just and having salvation,
Lowly and riding on a donkey,
A colt, the foal of a donkey.
Jesus fulfilled this portion of scripture. He is our Lord Jesus Christ, the Servant King
Lowly in spirit. Someone who is humble. Tapeinos (In Greek)
Humility brings rest to our souls.
Break free from pride thinking i am good.
Without Him i can do nothing.
Truly i am nothing, useless, hopeless in and of myself. I am nothing without Jesus.
We are desperately in need of Him
When we trust in Him, great things come our ways.
We will find rest for our souls
Humble in our hearts and we find rest.
1 Peter 5:5-7
Submit to God, Resist the Devil
Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for
“God resists the proud,
But gives grace to the humble.”
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
God resist the proud and give grace to the humble.
When we are lowly and gentle in hearts, grace will flow and we will find rest we did not find before
Casting all your cares upon Him
Promotion comes from the Lord.
To be humble is we are willing to let it go.
We are trying to set right everything that has been done wrong to us.
In trying to make everything right, we lose the rest.
Why not let it go?
Why not trust God for favour?
Instead of defending ourselves, trust God to be your Defence.
In marriage, when Pastor Lawrence’s wife told him something which he felt is not true, and if he were to correct everything, his marriage will not work.
They learnt through the years to say sorry. So what if you are right.
3 words learn to say-
I am sorry
Pls forgive me
I ℓσνє you
A lot of humbling of yourselves in marriage.
Let go will work it out for you. Humility will cause you to find rest.
If someone has wrong you, let it go.
Jesus has forgiven you. Let it go and find peace.
Better to be happy and have peace. Jesus is our example.
When the people said Jesus was a friend of sinners, He did not correct them.
Isaiah 42:1-4
The Servant of the Lord
“Behold! My Servant whom I uphold,
My Elect One in whom My soul delights!
I have put My Spirit upon Him;
He will bring forth justice to the Gentiles.
He will not cry out, nor raise His voice,
Nor cause His voice to be heard in the street.
A bruised reed He will not break,
And smoking flax He will not quench;
He will bring forth justice for truth.
He will not fail nor be discouraged,
Till He has established justice in the earth;
And the coastlands shall wait for His law.”
There is a longing in your heart that only Jesus can fill.
Matthew 12:15-16
Behold, My Servant
But when Jesus knew it, He withdrew from there. And great multitudes followed Him, and He healed them all. Yet He warned them not to make Him known,
Matthew 12:17-21
that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Isaiah the prophet, saying:
“Behold! My Servant whom I have chosen,
My Beloved in whom My soul is well pleased!
I will put My Spirit upon Him,
And He will declare justice to the Gentiles.
He will not quarrel nor cry out,
Nor will anyone hear His voice in the streets.
A bruised reed He will not break,
And smoking flax He will not quench,
Till He sends forth justice to victory;
And in His name Gentiles will trust.”
Gentle and lowly in heart.
He fulfilled prophesy once again.
A bruised reed is a piece of grass already bruised and of no value but He will not break.
A smoking flax He will not to quench.
Maybe you think because of your failure you are a bruised reed or smoking flax, beloved, He will not cast you out. He will never leave you.
Our God is a God of second chance.
Loving gentle and lowly.
One of His title is Servant. Not just king. Servant King.
Jesus was exceedingly sorrowful
He sweated blood that fell to the ground.
As He was praying He kept saying not My will but Yours be done.
Luke 22:50-51
And one of them struck the servant of the high priest and cut off his right ear.
But Jesus answered and said, “Permit even this.” And He touched his ear and healed him.
In the midst of chaos, when Jesus saw someone’s ear has fallen, His heart was to heal. His humility – He asked for permission. He healed
The One he came to arrest was the One who healed him.
Lion, Man, Ox, Eagle
Lion the king
The Man symbolise His humility
Ox is a beast that serves man. It speaks of Him as our Servant. He came to serve God and to serve us.
Eagle rules the sky
All the disciplines were unwilling to do the lowest task, to wash each other feet.
Jesus came and He washed His disciples’ feet
We are not His masters in anyway.
We are weak. May our hearts be opened to let Him serve us.
Philippians 2:3-11
Do nothing from selfish ambition or conceit, but in humility count others more significant than yourselves. Let each of you look not only to his own interests, but also to the interests of others. Have this mind among yourselves, which is yours in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not count equality with God a thing to be grasped, but emptied himself, by taking the form of a servant, being born in the likeness of men. And being found in human form, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. Therefore God has highly exalted him and bestowed on him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
When Jesus humbled Himself to be a Servant, He did not do it because He was inferior.
Don’t hold on to the title to your name.
Born in the likeness of man, He humbled Himself and is highly exalted by God!
Our King is also the servant who will never fail and you will never be discouraged.
