Sermon Note
Pastor Lian
John 13:1-10 NKJV
1 Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.
2 And supper being ended, the devil having already put it into the heart of Judas Iscariot, Simon’s son, to betray Him,
3 Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God,
4 rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself.
5 After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.
6 Then He came to Simon Peter. And Peter said to Him, “Lord, are You washing my feet?”
7 Jesus answered and said to him, “What I am doing you do not understand now, but you will know after this.”
8 Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!”
Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.”
9 Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!”
10 Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.”
I belong to Jesus
Jesus did not just come down to earth. He stood down
The heart of our Saviour. Today Jesus is saying He wants to save us.
This washing of water on our feet
By 1 offering He has perfected us forever.
We only need 1 sacrifice 1 time
We don’t have to keep on getting cleansed by the blood. We are the righteousness of God in Christ
Today He sees us only in His Son
Hebrews 10:14 NKJV
14 For by one offering He has perfected forever those who are being sanctified.
Sheep don’t like the mud.
When we are in the mud we want to come out. We don’t want to stay on there.
We need everyday to cleanse
2 Peter 2:2 NKJV
2 And many will follow their destructive ways, because of whom the way of truth will be blasphemed.
Inside strength. Your soul.
The devil eats dust.
When you are dusty you are devourable by devil.
God is a God of restoration
John 16:24 NKJV
24 Until now you have asked nothing in My name. Ask, and you will receive, that your joy may be full.
He wants our joy to be full.
The Lord wants our joy to be full!
Keep asking. God is faithful
John 15:4-5 NKJV
4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
God wants to be intimacy with us
He wants to fellowship with us
He wants to love us
Under new covenant is relationship
It is not just rules. Abide in Him
Ask what you desire and it shall be done for you
Ask and it shall be done.
Abide is relationship
Abide – stay in
Don’t run away when things go wrong
Even though you don’t feel Him, know that He is with you
Emunah
Grace
Amen
John 15:4-5 NKJV
4 Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.
We become fruitful of all kinds
You are undevourable
I want your joy to be full
I want to have intimacy with you
Stay in My Words. Stay in My love
Just because You loves me
John 17:1-5 NKJV
1 Jesus spoke these words, lifted up His eyes to heaven, and said: “Father, the hour has come. Glorify Your Son, that Your Son also may glorify You,
2 as You have given Him authority over all flesh, that He should give eternal life to as many as You have given Him.
3 And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom You have sent.
4 I have glorified You on the earth. I have finished the work which You have given Me to do.
5 And now, O Father, glorify Me together with Yourself, with the glory which I had with You before the world was.
Jesus is co-equal with God but He never grab His position
Can you see the spirit of our God? So beautiful
everyone who sees Jesus sees the heart of the Father. Look to your faithful God
John 17:20-26 NKJV
20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word;
21 that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.
22 And the glory which You gave Me I have given them, that they may be one just as We are one:
23 I in them, and You in Me; that they may be made perfect in one, and that the world may know that You have sent Me, and have loved them as You have loved Me.
24 “Father, I desire that they also whom You gave Me may be with Me where I am, that they may behold My glory which You have given Me; for You loved Me before the foundation of the world.
25 O righteous Father! The world has not known You, but I have known You; and these have known that You sent Me.
26 And I have declared to them Your name, and will declare it, that the love with which You loved Me may be in them, and I in them.”
John 17:20-25 NKJV
20 “I do not pray for these alone, but also for those who will believe in Me through their word;
Jesus stayed there so that He could die for our death
You in me, I in them
There is no way we can live that blessed life
We can just let go. We don’t have to fight for ourselves
Philippians 2:6-11 NKJV
6 who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God,
7 but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men.
8 And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death, even the death of the cross.
9 Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name,
10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth,
11 and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.
Became obedient to the death on the cross
You are in Me. You have this. Awaken to it
