Sermon Note
Pastor Gabriel
This is the year of Rest and Acceleration
Rest is Holy Spirit directed activity
Stress is self directed activity
If you are feeling stress, you are in self-directed activity
If you want to drive in Singapore, you don’t worry about oil prices.
Why are you living your life as if you don’t have a Heavenly Father?
Perhaps you are stress by PSLE (for parents with primary 6 students)
We are disappointed because we think our child will only be blessed because we go to this and that school. But the truth is your child is the blessing. Whatever school your child goes to, he or she will be a blessing.
God has never failed us.
God has turned our disappointment into His appointment!
Amos 9:11-13
In that day will I raise up the tabernacle of David that is fallen,
and close up the breaches thereof;
and I will raise up his ruins,
and I will build it as in the days of old:
That they may possess the remnant of Edom, and of all the heathen,
which are called by my name,
saith the LORD that doeth this.
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD,
that the plowman shall overtake the reaper,
and the treader of grapes him that soweth seed;
and the mountains shall drop sweet wine,
and all the hills shall melt.
Plowman shall overtake the reaper
It won’t be long now! Things are going to happen so fast!
“Yes indeed, it won’t be long now.” God’s Decree. “Things are going to happen so fast your head will swim, one thing fast on the heels of the other. You won’t be able to keep up. Everything will be happening at once—and everywhere you look, blessings! Blessings like wine pouring off the mountains and hills. I’ll make everything right again for my people Israel
Amos 9:13 MSG
As Jesus is, without high cholesterol, so am I in this world
Jesus is the Aleph and Tav. He has the final words in our life
Tav – the nos 22
We overcome him by the blood of the Lamb and the testimonies.
1 Chronicles 16:1-2
The Ark Placed in the Tabernacle
So they brought the ark of God, and set it in the midst of the tabernacle that David had erected for it. Then they offered burnt offerings and peace offerings before God. And when David had finished offering the burnt offerings and the peace offerings, he blessed the people in the name of the LORD.
1 Chronicles 16:7-10
David’s Song of Thanksgiving
(Ps. 96:1–13; 105:1–15; 106:1, 47, 48)
On that day David first delivered this psalm into the hand of Asaph and his brethren, to thank the LORD:
Oh, give thanks to the LORD!
Call upon His name;
Make known His deeds among the peoples!
Sing to Him, sing psalms to Him;
Talk of all His wondrous works!
Glory in His holy name;
Let the hearts of those rejoice who seek the LORD!
1 Chronicles 16:23-24
Sing to the LORD, all the earth;
Proclaim the good news of His salvation from day to day.
Declare His glory among the nations,
His wonders among all peoples.
If God can do it for him and her, God can do it for us too.
Sharing of testimony to encourage us.
Some of you may have grown tired, trying to look for jobs, but have grown tired.
Know Jesus better. Ask Jesus to give us the desire to know Him better.
Rest and acceleration. Listen to the sermon over and over again. Faith comes by hearing and hearing the word of Christ
When you read and watch testimony, look out for the turning point in the testimony
When you look out for the turning point, don’t just look at what they did. Look out for the change of mind, when they believe right. Is when they believe right, they did right.
Reading testimonies will encourage you.
Psalms 3:1-2
The LORD Helps His Troubled People
A Psalm of David when he fled from Absalom his son.
LORD, how they have increased who trouble me!
Many are they who rise up against me.
Many are they who say of me,
“There is no help for him in God.”
Selah
If you really need to complain, don’t complain on social media or coffeeshop, complain in the presence of the Lord
Complain to the Lord directly
Selah – pause, reflect, mediate the Word of God
The first quality of love is long suffering
God is long suffering
Have a selah moment
Pause reflect and mediate on the Word of God and His goodness
Don’t say the wrong word.
If you said “jialet” it means strength eaten up.
David said the Lord is his strength.
For thou O Lord are a shield for me, you are my glory and lifter of my head
Psalms 3:3-8
But You, O LORD, are a shield for me,
My glory and the One who lifts up my head.
I cried to the LORD with my voice,
And He heard me from His holy hill.
Selah
I lay down and slept;
I awoke, for the LORD sustained me.
I will not be afraid of ten thousands of people
Who have set themselves against me all around.
Arise, O LORD;
Save me, O my God!
For You have struck all my enemies on the cheekbone;
You have broken the teeth of the ungodly.
Salvation belongs to the LORD.
Your blessing is upon Your people.
Selah
When you sing this way, how can you not be encouraged
Shield is all around. Not just in front.
You O Lord are a shield for me.
Isaiah 41:10
Fear not, for I am with you;
Be not dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
Yes, I will help you,
I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’
Isaiah 41:13
For I, the LORD your God, will hold your right hand,
Saying to you, ‘Fear not, I will help you.’
All the fears left!
It does not have to be long prayer.
Short prayer are powerful !
Yahweh Yeshua
Salvation belongs to the Lord
His blessing is upon His people
He is there for us. He is as close as your prayer. You pray Lord save me, He saves!
The enemy wants us to wallow in the dust.
Psalms 56:1-9
Be merciful to me, O God, for man would swallow me up;
Fighting all day he oppresses me.
My enemies would hound me all day,
For there are many who fight against me, O Most High.
Whenever I am afraid,
I will trust in You.
In God (I will praise His word),
In God I have put my trust;
I will not fear.
What can flesh do to me?
All day they twist my words;
All their thoughts are against me for evil.
They gather together,
They hide, they mark my steps,
When they lie in wait for my life.
Shall they escape by iniquity?
In anger cast down the peoples, O God!
You number my wanderings;
Put my tears into Your bottle;
Are they not in Your book?
When I cry out to You,
Then my enemies will turn back;
This I know, because God is for me.
Psalm 32
Psalm 56
Whenever I am afraid, I will trust in You
Even when you are afraid, you can trust in the Lord
You number my wanderings;
Put my tears into Your bottle;
Are they not in Your book?
Cry in the Lord’s presence. Your tears are precious to Him.
It is not just feeling sorry. He is able to be touched by the feeling of our infirmities. He is fully God and fully Man
Our tears are precious to the Lord
He stores your tears in the bottle.
When we cry to Him, our enemies will turn back. This I know! God is for me!
On the day of Pentecost, 3000 people were saved. He quoted 2 Psalms
Acts 2:25-28
For David says concerning Him:
I foresaw the LORD always before my face,
For He is at my right hand, that I may not be shaken.
Therefore my heart rejoiced, and my tongue was glad;
Moreover my flesh also will rest in hope.
For You will not leave my soul in Hades,
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
You have made known to me the ways of life;
You will make me full of joy in Your presence.’
We can have hope for new heavenly body when the Lord comes back for us.
Psalms 16:8-11
I have set the LORD always before me;
Because He is at my right hand I shall not be moved.
Therefore my heart is glad, and my glory rejoices;
My flesh also will rest in hope.
For You will not leave my soul in Sheol,
Nor will You allow Your Holy One to see corruption.
You will show me the path of life;
In Your presence is fullness of joy;
At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore.
FULLNESS – soba
PRESENCE – panim
First mention of presence of God in the bible –
Genesis 3:6-8
So when the woman saw that the tree was good for food, that it was pleasant to the eyes, and a tree desirable to make one wise, she took of its fruit and ate. She also gave to her husband with her, and he ate. Then the eyes of both of them were opened, and they knew that they were naked; and they sewed fig leaves together and made themselves coverings.
And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden.
Sin separates us from God
Thanks be to God, we can now come boldly to the presence of God
Jacob means grabber
He spent his entire life trying to grab and supplant
Genesis 32:22-30
Wrestling with God
And he arose that night and took his two wives, his two female servants, and his eleven sons, and crossed over the ford of Jabbok. He took them, sent them over the brook, and sent over what he had. Then Jacob was left alone; and a Man wrestled with him until the breaking of day. Now when He saw that He did not prevail against him, He touched the socket of his hip; and the socket of Jacob’s hip was out of joint as He wrestled with him. And He said, “Let Me go, for the day breaks.”
But he said, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!”
So He said to him, “What is your name?”
He said, “Jacob.”
And He said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed.”
Then Jacob asked, saying, “Tell me Your name, I pray.”
And He said, “Why is it that you ask about My name?” And He blessed him there.
So Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: “For I have seen God face to face, and my life is preserved.”
One of the way to make your opponent submit is for them to tap out
God did not submit. He tapped Jacab and he became weak. When he became weak, God started blessing him.
When you are helpless and weak, God helps you
God changed his name from grabber to prince of God
From Jacab to Israel
You are a prince/princess of God!
Stop struggling and try to grab
“Jacob named the place Peniel (God’s Face) because, he said, “I saw God face-to-face and lived to tell the story!””
Genesis 32:30 MSG
When you prioritise His presence, you will live to tell your story to your neighbours, your enemies !
I will live to tell the story of His goodness, grace and power!
Numbers 6:24-26
“The LORD bless you and keep you;
The LORD make His face (panim) shine upon you,
And be gracious to you;
The LORD lift up His countenance (panim) upon you,
And give you peace.” ’
When He looks at us, He is smiling at us.
When God thinks of you, He is smiling at you and He gives you peace.
