Sermon note (3rd svc)
– Pastor Prince
Something great and powerful is going to happen in your life.
Look for the Live the let go life episode in TBN
We dare not go because we afraid we let go, nothing is going to happen. Underneath are My everlasting arms.
Don’t become old (in your mindset)
God is doing something among young people!
God knows the days and the hours Jesus will return.
God is reaching to young people now. It is going to be soon He is coming back!
Reach out to the youth! They are ready!
John 6:1-3
Chapter 6
Feeding the Five Thousand
After these things Jesus went over the Sea of Galilee, which is the Sea of Tiberias. Then a great multitude followed Him, because they saw His signs which He performed on those who were diseased. And Jesus went up on the mountain, and there He sat with His disciples.
Performed in Greek -> is continuously performing. Keep on performing
Luke 9:10
Feeding the Five Thousand
And the apostles, when they had returned, told Him all that they had done. Then He took them and went aside privately into a deserted place belonging to the city called Bethsaida.
Belonging to the city called Bethsaida. The miracle happened to the place belonging to the city.
John 6:4-6
Now the Passover, a feast of the Jews, was near. Then Jesus lifted up His eyes, and seeing a great multitude coming toward Him, He said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread, that these may eat?” But this He said to test him, for He Himself knew what He would do.
It teaches u how God supplies.
God is going to show u how He supplies. He is going to show u the way of the world and how He supplies.
Only miracle that is repeated 4 times. All 4 gospels shared the same story.
If God mentioned once, it is significant. But if God said it 4 times, He is emphasising really strong.
John 6:7-9
Philip answered Him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little.”
One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him, “There is a lad here who has five barley loaves and two small fish, but what are they among so many?”
Lad -> young boys and girls.
John 6:10-13
Then Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted. So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.” Therefore they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten.
Left over
Testing of Philip
Response of Andrew
Response of the little boy
Responsibilities of the disciples
Sufficiency of the Saviour
The other gospel writer has more details for this story. Each gospel is unique.
When this miracle happened it was the time of Passover.
John is the one who started his book, pointing to Jesus said Behold the Lamb of God. The gospel of the Lamb of God, the Son of God.
A feast is a celebration and for us to enjoy the Lamb
God restore people from lost of memories and Alzheimer.
Jesus Himself knew what He would do. It is a test.
Preach Jesus centred sermons.
The test always happen at home first. Home ground.
Philip was a home boy.
Only John mentioned names. Philip, Andrew..
John mentioned the boy. John is a personal gospel.
Whenever the Lord ask u a question, He Himself knew what He would do.
200 denarii is more than half year wage.
A little based on what we see and not based on who we are talking to.
John 6:7-8
Philip answered Him, “Two hundred denarii worth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may have a little.”
One of His disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, said to Him,
We have vastness of needs we are concern of.
God has ways we do not know of.
We look at vastness of needs and we give up internally.
Look to Jesus.
The law of gravity does not change.
We serve a God who loves us and He does not care about how big the problem is.
With God a little becomes much.
God met Moses in the burning bush.
God asked Moses what is that in your hands. God never ask for something we don’t have.
With a rod, when they were thirsty, he hit the rock and out of the rock came water of living water.
What do you have?
Many of us we think it is too little for God. Look at the vastness of the needs and we despise the little we have
Pastor Prince was a stammerer. He gave to the Lord and whatever he gave multiplied.
God never ask for what you don’t have.
If you have a gift in something, give it to the Lord.
Do you spot mistakes or see potential in people? Find potential in people.
John 1:40-41
One of the two who heard John speak, and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. He first found his own brother Simon, and said to him, “We have found the Messiah” (which is translated, the Christ).
He first found! Amazing leader!
Wheel of grace turns and turns in our life!
Look at the potential.
Jesus was 30 years old. His disciples were all young! Only Jesus paid temple tax and for Peter. The rest are not old enough to pay temple tax.
Philip’s problem is the vastness of the needs and Peter’s problem is the little of the supplies.
Borrow not a few vessels
The supply is always greater than the needs.
God never cease granting mercy. God never stop until Abraham stopped asking.
When God gives, God gives more than enough.
2 Kings 4:6-7
Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, “Bring me another vessel.”
And he said to her, “There is not another vessel.” So the oil ceased. Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, “Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest.”
Before a miracle can happen, sit down! Rest!
John 6:10-11
Then Jesus said, “Make the people sit down.” Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand. And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted.
The Lord said sit down. Make them sit down!
God spirit still can flow when there is order.
Mark 6:40
So they sat down in ranks, in hundreds and in fifties.
Ranks -> garden bed
The Lord has wisdom even in His miracle. There is orders and still miracles.
Exodus 13:18
So God led the people around by way of the wilderness of the Red Sea. And the children of Israel went up in orderly ranks out of the land of Egypt.
Armed for battle
Exodus 13:18 (YLT)
and God turneth round the people the way of the wilderness of the Red Sea, and by fifties have the sons of Israel gone up from the land of Egypt.
By fifties
Position of grace.
Let go your stress, your worries and your anxieties
John 6:11
And Jesus took the loaves, and when He had given thanks He distributed them to the disciples, and the disciples to those sitting down; and likewise of the fish, as much as they wanted.
Jesus gave thanks for the little.
Start thanking God. Don’t wait till everything is in perfect
Thank God for the little and little became much.
John 6:23
however, other boats came from Tiberias, near the place where they ate bread after the Lord had given thanks—
The miracle happened after the Lord has given thanks❗️
A miracle of position, healing, marriage, a miracle for your mind.
If you are always distracted, it is the work of the enemy.
How can u be much distracted when there is only one to look at?
Mark 6:41
And when He had taken the five loaves and the two fish, He looked up to heaven, blessed and broke the loaves, and gave them to His disciples to set before them; and the two fish He divided among them all.
Gave (keep on giving) them to His disciples
Keep on giving. It multiplied in Jesus’ hands.
We always come back to Jesus for fresh supplies. They never come back empty. His hands are always full! He gives lavishly! Abundantly!
As much as they wanted! Not as God’s will. God’s will is as much as they wanted.
The basket are huge hamper basket.
12 is the number of 12 tribes in Israel.
The teaching of Paul is the bread we need.
Jesus used 5 loaves to 5000 man.
For 4000, 7 loaves.
God don’t function by the economy of the world.
The bigger the problem, the lesser “effort”
It is not praying hard or soft. Look to Jesus. Don’t turn prayer into works.
God’s mathematics-
The loaves when divided were increased in His hands.
It multiplied when subtracted from His hands.
Whenever you serve the Lord, God will return back.
When you give to Jesus, things become different. When He ask us to do, is not subtraction.
The problem is how much can we take? Is the story of Joseph.
Genesis 44:1
Chapter 44
Joseph’s Cup
And he commanded the steward of his house, saying, “Fill the men’s sacks with food, as much as they can carry, and put each man’s money in the mouth of his sack.
As much as they can carry
Enlarge our capacity to receive!
We believe for so little when He is so great!
Give thanks for what we have and rest. The Man will not sit until He has finished the work.
Don’t make anything legalistic.
John 6:12-14
So when they were filled, He said to His disciples, “Gather up the fragments that remain, so that nothing is lost.” Therefore they gathered them up, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves which were left over by those who had eaten. Then those men, when they had seen the sign that Jesus did, said, “This is truly the Prophet who is to come into the world.”
With God there is no lack and no waste.
Left over
Every time we go to Jesus, we always find His hands full.
12 basket full with fishes for each of the 12 disciples. The Lord does not forget what we give to Him.
The generous soul shall prosper.
Are u looking at the vastness of your needs?
Acknowledge the need is beyond us. Stop looking at the littleness we have and start looking to Him!
The Passover is near. The righteous outlet for our Holy God is Jesus paid for our sins.
Our sins are forgiven because Someone died. We feast on the roasted lamb.
The supply is paid for.
