Sermon note (3rd svc)
Preached in Israel 11th March
Jesus draws near when you are discouraged.
You are right where the gospel of grace went forth. Paul left this port and never return.
God told him to go west.
Israel is the centre of the world.
Paul took the gospel westward.
There is a timing in everything that God does
From America, God raised America for the purpose of the gospel of grace.
Now it has hit China, Korea , Singapore and many other countries.
It has come one full circle. God never decreases in His work.
The path shines more and more
It will end up all the way back to Jerusalem
What is the gospel?
Gospel is good news.
The gospel is not do good get good do bad get bad.
Gospel of the grace of God.
Gospel of grace and gospel of peace.
The devil has switched the role of the gospel
Galatians 1:6-9
Only One Gospel
I marvel that you are turning away so soon from Him who called you in the grace of Christ, to a different gospel, which is not another; but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. But even if we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel to you than what we have preached to you, let him be accursed. As we have said before, so now I say again, if anyone preaches any other gospel to you than what you have received, let him be accursed.
Whatever the grace of Christ is, it is the gospel Paul preached.
We are rediscovering the gospel that Paul preached.
Under the law, it was the first Pentecost of Israel.
The law kills but the spirit gives life.
Sin in the greek is noun.
Sin shall not have dominion over you.
I m for the law for the reason God gave the law. God gave the law to show up man’s sin.
The law is like a mirror.
The law is righteous and truth but cannot make you holy.
We need to rediscover the gospel that Paul preached.
If anyone preaches a mixture, let him be a curse.
Preach the gospel of grace and be doubly blessed!
There have been a change. The law is about do do do. Grace is about done. The better you rest God will do the work.
God does not want human sweat for victory. We pray from victory and not for victory.
Find out the reason why you are doing for what you are doing.
When you are under grace, no one can stop you from giving.
Prophecy of Messiah from prophet Isaiah
Matthew 12:20
A bruised reed He will not break,
And smoking flax He will not quench,
Till He sends forth justice to victory;
When you feel you have lost your song, what happen when you lose your praise, He will not put u aside.
Are you burn out? When you are burnt out there will be a smoke. Smoking flax He will be right there with us. Repent means to change your mind.
God does not put u aside when u r weak in your faith.
When you are disappointed, dejected, what does God do?
Elijah, the man who called fire down from heaven, he fled when the woman threatened him.
Elijah when he was discouraged under the tree, the Messenger of the Lord came and fed him. Make a cake for him and put him back to sleep.
In the day of his depression, the Lord Himself fed him.
Luke 24:15
So it was, while they conversed and reasoned, that Jesus Himself drew near and went with them.
They left the place of fellowship, and they were disappointed. Jesus Himself drew near.
When they drew away, Jesus Himself drew near.
One wayward sheep lost, Jesus Himself drew near.
What a Saviour !
God counts the numbers of stars and call them by names
Psalms 147:3-5
He heals the brokenhearted
And binds up their wounds.
He counts the number of the stars;
He calls them all by name.
Great is our Lord, and mighty in power;
His understanding is infinite.
The same God who can count the nos of stars is the same God who binds up the brokenhearted.
He sent Jesus to this world to heal the brokenhearted
The world is full of brokenhearts.
Even in laughter the heart is sorrowful.
No one knows the secret sorrow but Jesus does.
The weeping woman who came to Jesus. She heard Jesus was in the Pharisees house and she came. She wept over His feet and wiped His feet with her hair.
The Pharisee Simon, was thinking in his heart if Jesus knows who this woman is.
We are all forgiven of our sins.
Under grace God forgives us already!
This is the gospel!
Live your life not self-occupied but Christ-occupied!
You are righteous in God’s eyes! This is a gift!
You need to know you are forgiven!
When you worship, when bad thoughts come, you don’t have to put down your hands and stop.
She loved much because she knows she is forgiven much.
Come to Israel and see Jesus. Revelation not like drinking from water tap. Everywhere we turn we see Jesus.
When Jesus went down the mountain, the multitudes followed Him.
Then a leper came to Him.
The leper was hiding behind the stones listening to Jesus
I am willing, be cleansed.
Jesus is altogether lovely
When He is strong He is not hurtful.
When He is tender He is not soft.
He heals the brokenhearts.
Jesus wept for Martha and Mary. He came to enter in our sorrow.
The Saviour weeping in our sorrows.
Came a long way.
John 4:4-5
But He needed to go through Samaria.
So He came to a city of Samaria which is called Sychar, near the plot of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
He needed to.
The Jews had no dealings with Samaria in those days.
It was a need of grace. There was a sinner waiting for Him.
Joseph fruitful vine. He is a fruitful vine by the well.
Jesus’ grace and love will reach over the walls of partitions
The Holy Spirit don’t help u to memorise the law but the Holy Spirit helps you to memorise John 3:16
God never give the law to justify man by.
John 3, Jesus called this man master teacher
The woman’s only “achievement” is she had 5 husbands.
For this woman He did not quote bible verses. He used natural illustration. He used water. Living water.
49th High Priest. Jesus is nos 50th
Jonathan was the 49th. Which means gift of God.
If u know the real Jonathan (Jesus), you ask Him for water and He gives you the living water.
Jesus just loved on her.
You will never feel loved if you think the one who is talking to you do not know everything about you.
Jesus knows everything about you and still love you!
God said you are righteous
First she called Jesus a Jew
Than she called Him sir
Than she called Him prophet
When Jesus revealed her sin, He did it with divine skilfulness.
Praise her
Revealed to her her sin
And said she has said truthfully
Jesus revealed to her He is the Messiah.
One hour with Jesus, she went into the city
She became instant evangelist.
You cannot put new wine into old bottle.
You cannot put grace in the context of law.
First love. He first love you.
Faith
Labour of love
Patient of hope
The end result of new testament preaching is there is a release of faith, love and hope
1 John 4:10
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
God wants to show us up. Even the best of them, David, failed.
God will love us with all His heart and all His mind and all His strength and He gave His life.
God told Abraham about the mount. Take your son the only son the son that you loved.
God was thinking of His Son, the only Son whom He loves, and will be sacrificed at that mount.
We can tell God we know He loves us because He did not withhold His Son the Son He loves.
Abraham rejoices to see His days.
Abraham saw Him. Before Abraham was, He sees Jesus
God gave up His Son for you
God loves His Son.
You are My beloved son, in whom i am well pleased.
The devil left out the word beloved.
No temptation can be successful against you when you know you are His beloved!
You need the Holy Spirit to teach you can receive good you don’t deserve.
He never address God as My God, but only at the cross.
So that we can call Him our Father.
Under the law the judgement is greater than the sacrifice.
Jesus absorbed it all and said IT IS FINISHED! This time the Sacrifice is greater than the judgement!
