Sermon Note
Pastor Gabriel
There are wars and rumours of wars. When we listen to the bad news, it could grip our heart with fear.
Receiving the exam result is one of the fears.
Whatever you fear, where it all began?
Genesis 3:10
So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”
First mention of “afraid”
The mother of all fears is when we are cut off from God. Adam disobeyed God and sin came in. He was out of fellowship with God. Adam felt naked, lost
When God asked where are you, He is not asking his location. He is asking where he is in spiritual realm
God provided the solution to fear
Genesis 15:1
After these things the word of the LORD came to Abram in a vision, saying, “Do not be afraid, Abram. I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward.”
Do not be afraid – Al Tira
First mention of “do not be afraid”
Genesis 14:18-24
Abram and Melchizedek
(Heb. 7:1, 2)
Then Melchizedek king of Salem brought out bread and wine; he was the priest of God Most High. And he blessed him and said:
“Blessed be Abram of God Most High,
Possessor of heaven and earth;
And blessed be God Most High,
Who has delivered your enemies into your hand.”
And he gave him a tithe of all.
Now the king of Sodom said to Abram, “Give me the persons, and take the goods for yourself.”
But Abram said to the king of Sodom, “I have raised my hand to the LORD, God Most High, the Possessor of heaven and earth, that I will take nothing, from a thread to a sandal strap, and that I will not take anything that is yours, lest you should say, ‘I have made Abram rich’— except only what the young men have eaten, and the portion of the men who went with me: Aner, Eshcol, and Mamre; let them take their portion.”
John 12, 16
When Adam fell, he gave the authority to this earth to satan
The ruler of this earth is very bleak and he wants the people.
We should not be intimidated by the voices of this earth.
Your authority is the word of God
You are who God’s Word said you are.
Besides been judged by court of the law, people are judged by the court of the public mainly because of social media
Genesis 15:2-6
But Abram said, “Lord GOD, what will You give me, seeing I go childless, and the heir of my house is Eliezer of Damascus?” Then Abram said, “Look, You have given me no offspring; indeed one born in my house is my heir!”
And behold, the word of the LORD came to him, saying, “This one shall not be your heir, but one who will come from your own body shall be your heir.” Then He brought him outside and said, “Look now toward heaven, and count the stars if you are able to number them.” And He said to him, “So shall your descendants be.”
And he believed in the LORD, and He accounted it to him for righteousness.
God promised him an heir.
Believed – when you say amen. This is the root
Righteousness is the fruit. Righteousness is a gift and is when you believe God
Matthew 14:22-27
Immediately Jesus made His disciples get into the boat and go before Him to the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up on the mountain by Himself to pray. Now when evening came, He was alone there. But the boat was now in the middle of the sea, tossed by the waves, for the wind was contrary.
Now in the fourth watch of the night Jesus went to them, walking on the sea. And when the disciples saw Him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, “It is a ghost!” And they cried out for fear.
But immediately Jesus spoke to them, saying, “Be of good cheer! It is I; do not be afraid.”
When men said do not be afraid, they have no power.
When the Lord said fear not, faith arose
Matthew 14:31
And immediately Jesus stretched out His hand and caught him, and said to him, “O you of little faith, why did you doubt?”
Little faith -> take little
See the Lord in action when you are afraid
Matthew 17:1
Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves;
Matthew 17:2-6
and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him. Then Peter answered and said to Jesus, “Lord, it is good for us to be here; if You wish, let us make here three tabernacles: one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elijah.”
While he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them; and suddenly a voice came out of the cloud, saying, “This is My beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased. Hear Him!” And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their faces and were greatly afraid.
Matthew 17:7-8
But Jesus came and touched them and said, “Arise, and do not be afraid.” When they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only.
See no one but Jesus and Jesus alone.
See Him smiling at you. See His eyes lighted up with joy, peace. Arise, and do not be afraid. Be of good cheers
Luke 12:32
“Do not fear, little flock, for it is your Father’s good pleasure to give you the kingdom.
When you see Jesus you see heavenly Father.
You are forgiven because of the blood of Jesus.
As Christ is, so are you in this world
Perfect love expels all fear
Receive Jesus’ perfect love
Love your wife as Christ loves the church
Submit to your husband as unto the Lord
He carries you close to your heart. He never forsake you.
When we behold the Lord Jesus Christ, He upholds you.
Galatians 3:29
And if you are Christ’s, then you are Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
I belong to Christ, therefore i am Abraham’s seed and heirs according to the promise
