Sermon note (1st svc)
– By Pastor Lawrence
If you are here today, God has a word for you. God’s heart is to bless you. Wonderful in His power to deliver you. God loves and cares for you. Your life will turn out right.
What was the message that Martin Luther preached? He preached the righteousness of God in Christ, the just shall live by faith.
Today you don’t live by what you can do. It is what Christ has done. Not what you can do. We live by faith because we are justified by faith.
Your faith is build on what Jesus has done for you.
Peace with God. Therefore having been justified by faith, we have peace with God. God wants to bless you. His heart is full of love towards you. Everyday is good day when you know how much He loves you.
Are you been impacted by the Good News?
When we open newspapers, we see bad news. We are bombarded with negative news all the time. When all these things happen, men’s heart will filled with fear. When u see these things happening, look up. Look up, there is hope. We are God’s children
Grace revolution are happening right now in Europe.
This year is the 50th year since Jerusalem was deliberated. The time of gentiles has been fulfilled and this means the time is near.
How should our prospective be when we see all things happen?
A tale of two old men
1. Barzillai
2. Caleb
2 Samuel 17:27-29
Now it happened, when David had come to Mahanaim, that Shobi the son of Nahash from Rabbah of the people of Ammon, Machir the son of Ammiel from Lo Debar, and Barzillai the Gileadite from Rogelim, brought beds and basins, earthen vessels and wheat, barley and flour, parched grain and beans, lentils and parched seeds, honey and curds, sheep and cheese of the herd, for David and the people who were with him to eat. For they said, “The people are hungry and weary and thirsty in the wilderness.”
Barzillai showed kindness to David at the low point of his life.
2 Samuel 19:31-39
David’s Kindness to Barzillai
And Barzillai the Gileadite came down from Rogelim and went across the Jordan with the king, to escort him across the Jordan. Now Barzillai was a very aged man, eighty years old. And he had provided the king with supplies while he stayed at Mahanaim, for he was a very rich man. And the king said to Barzillai, “Come across with me, and I will provide for you while you are with me in Jerusalem.”
But Barzillai said to the king, “How long have I to live, that I should go up with the king to Jerusalem? I am today eighty years old. Can I discern between the good and bad? Can your servant taste what I eat or what I drink? Can I hear any longer the voice of singing men and singing women? Why then should your servant be a further burden to my lord the king? Your servant will go a little way across the Jordan with the king. And why should the king repay me with such a reward? Please let your servant turn back again, that I may die in my own city, near the grave of my father and mother. But here is your servant Chimham; let him cross over with my lord the king, and do for him what seems good to you.”
And the king answered, “Chimham shall cross over with me, and I will do for him what seems good to you. Now whatever you request of me, I will do for you.” Then all the people went over the Jordan. And when the king had crossed over, the king kissed Barzillai and blessed him, and he returned to his own place.
The king wanted to reward Barzillai.
Barzillai said he would not go with the king. An 80 year old man given a promise by the king to be with him in the palace. Bazillai felt he was old and would be a burden to the king.
The king wanted to bring him to his kingdom. He had something good.
Bazillai sees himself as a person who will die soon
Does it means when you get older you will get weaker? What do you believe? What spirit do you carry in your heart?
What is it in your life that you have resigned yourself to?
God has great plan for you. Don’t limit yourself. If only you know His amazing plan for your life.
Caleb was one of the tribes of Judah.
Flowing (continuously with His provision) with milk and honey. Our cups overflow. He is generous.
Every tree you may freely eat.
God is a good God and He wants to bless us.
Numbers 13:25-28
And they returned from spying out the land after forty days.
Now they departed and came back to Moses and Aaron and all the congregation of the children of Israel in the Wilderness of Paran, at Kadesh; they brought back word to them and to all the congregation, and showed them the fruit of the land. Then they told him, and said: “We went to the land where you sent us. It truly flows with milk and honey, and this is its fruit. Nevertheless the people who dwell in the land are strong; the cities are fortified and very large; moreover we saw the descendants of Anak there.
Descendants of Anak are giants.
12 spies and 10 gave evil reports. But 2 of them carried different spirit and were different.
Numbers 13:30-33
Then Caleb quieted the people before Moses, and said, “Let us go up at once and take possession, for we are well able to overcome it.”
But the men who had gone up with him said, “We are not able to go up against the people, for they are stronger than we.” And they gave the children of Israel a bad report of the land which they had spied out, saying, “The land through which we have gone as spies is a land that devours its inhabitants, and all the people whom we saw in it are men of great stature. There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak came from the giants); and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.”
That is how Caleb saw himself and his people. That they are well able to overcome it.
Our enemies may be stronger than us but they are not stronger than God.
How do you see yourself? Are you subject to that weakness for the rest of your life? Whose report will you believe?
Grace has made its claim. What do you believe in your heart today?
The majority thoughts that way does not mean that is the truth.
Numbers 14:24
But My servant Caleb, because he has a different spirit in him and has followed Me fully, I will bring into the land where he went, and his descendants shall inherit it.
What is the difference in the spirit? He believed in His God.
Numbers 14:6-9
But Joshua the son of Nun and Caleb the son of Jephunneh, who were among those who had spied out the land, tore their clothes; and they spoke to all the congregation of the children of Israel, saying: “The land we passed through to spy out is an exceedingly good land. If the Lord delights in us, then He will bring us into this land and give it to us, ‘a land which flows with milk and honey.’ Only do not rebel against the Lord, nor fear the people of the land, for they are our bread; their protection has departed from them, and the Lord is with us. Do not fear them.”
10 spices saw the giants and they became like grasshoppers.
Caleb saw the giants as bread!
What was a problem and difficulties for the 10 spices, Caleb saw the problems as bread.
Don’t tell God how big our problem is. Tell our problem how big God is.
The Lord has kept me alive.
Joshua 14:6-10
Caleb Inherits Hebron
Then the children of Judah came to Joshua in Gilgal. And Caleb the son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite said to him: “You know the word which the Lord said to Moses the man of God concerning you and me in Kadesh Barnea. I was forty years old when Moses the servant of the Lord sent me from Kadesh Barnea to spy out the land, and I brought back word to him as it was in my heart. Nevertheless my brethren who went up with me made the heart of the people melt, but I wholly followed the Lord my God. So Moses swore on that day, saying, ‘Surely the land where your foot has trodden shall be your inheritance and your children’s forever, because you have wholly followed the Lord my God.’ And now, behold, the Lord has kept me alive, as He said, these forty-five years, ever since the Lord spoke this word to Moses while Israel wandered in the wilderness; and now, here I am this day, eighty-five years old.
Joshua 14:11-13
As yet I am as strong this day as on the day that Moses sent me; just as my strength was then, so now is my strength for war, both for going out and for coming in. Now therefore, give me this mountain of which the Lord spoke in that day; for you heard in that day how the Anakim were there, and that the cities were great and fortified. It may be that the Lord will be with me, and I shall be able to drive them out as the Lord said.”
And Joshua blessed him, and gave Hebron to Caleb the son of Jephunneh as an inheritance.
Caleb said he is as strong today!
Caleb was 5 years older than Bazillai.
Our heavenly Father has given us a new DNA. we are born again of the incorruptible seed! We are born of God, child of the Most High.
We have a new DNA today.
Do not expect your heart to fail. Expect your heart to beat well!
Caleb wanted the mountain that strike fear in the 10 spices.
Be active. Don’t retire, refire!
Joshua lived to 110! He had the passion to serve the Lord. We will serve the Lord.
Christian lives is not meant to live alone.
When you speak word of encouragement, this is a gift of prophecy
What will you believe about yourself?
Faith arise.
God has something beautiful for you even at the age of 80 years old.
Is anything holding you back?
Bodily exercise profits little means profits us here and now. It still profit here in this life! Get up and exercise.
God will keep you.
Isaiah 40:29-31
He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall,
But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.
What is our hope? Confident expectation of good things to come!
Our hope! He has redeemed us from every curse.
Every sickness Jesus has redeemed us from!
You will have strength for all that God has called you to do
Should you be fearful? What are the fears you have in your heart? Do you live with fear all the time? You need to know that God loves you.
Call out Abba! The spirit of Sonship. You were slave under the old, you are son under the new.
God’s heart is not to punish man. Jesus went willingly to die for us!
Our sins are all forgiven! There is no fear in love. Perfect love cast out fear!
We do not need to fear God. God is for you and not against you!
Be like Caleb whose eyes are on the Lord. He followed and believed the Lord. Caleb asked God to give him this mountain.
It is not over yet. Is never over. It is up to you. Don’t subject yourself to the world’s circumstances. Subject yourself to God.
Are you holding back? Do you think that is all that God has for you?
What a great and glorious life!
The new covenant is a new and living way!
The more you live the more you get well. Keep on hearing and believing!
As we worship the Lord, i do not know what is your fear today, whatever it is, God is faithful. He will not allow you to be where you are. God wants to set you free.
Testimony –
I developed a fear of getting a stroke after my mum died of stroke. I felt i was dizzy and thought she will get a stroke. When she watched a sermon by Pastor Prince, Pastor said that someone watching this is afraid of getting a stroke, God is saying you will never get a stroke!
