Our joy is no longer in our own circumstances but in Christ and Christ alone.
Jesus said He has anointed me to preach the gospel to the poor! The whole anointing is for us to preach to the poor. Not just to give food, but to preach the gospel to the poor as well.
Hear the good news of our Lord Jesus Christ
And to set the captives free.
Romans 10:17
So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
Jesus is the Logos
Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the word of Christ
It is the spoken word of Christ
It is the gospel
Preaching that we need to hear.
How shall we hear without preachers?
The gospel is great tiding of good things
God bears witness to the word of His grace
Acts 14:3
Therefore they stayed there a long time, speaking boldly in the Lord, who was bearing witness to the word of His grace, granting signs and wonders to be done by their hands.
When you hear, faith will come
The struggle of a born again believer. A struggle of a child of God
Our struggle with our flesh
Galatians 5:16-17
Walking in the Spirit
I say then: Walk in the Spirit, and you shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh. For the flesh lusts against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh; and these are contrary to one another, so that you do not do the things that you wish.
Romans 7:15-25
For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do. If, then, I do what I will not to do, I agree with the law that it is good. But now, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me. For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh) nothing good dwells; for to will is present with me, but how to perform what is good I do not find. For the good that I will to do, I do not do; but the evil I will not to do, that I practice. Now if I do what I will not to do, it is no longer I who do it, but sin that dwells in me.
I find then a law, that evil is present with me, the one who wills to do good. For I delight in the law of God according to the inward man. But I see another law in my members, warring against the law of my mind, and bringing me into captivity to the law of sin which is in my members. O wretched man that I am! Who will deliver me from this body of death? I thank God—through Jesus Christ our Lord!
So then, with the mind I myself serve the law of God, but with the flesh the law of sin.
Human inclination and tendency to sin
Who can deliver me from this body of death
He is your victory. He is your way out
Our answer is found in the Lord Jesus Christ
Holiness is a moment by moment dependent on the Lord
The fruit of the spirit; not the fruit of men
There can be no holiness without Christ
Stop trusting in yourself. Stop looking to your own will power and your own strength
Romans 8:1
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the Spirit.
Live over conqueror
When you struggle and fall, there is now no condemnation for those who are in Christ
Romans 4:5-8
David Celebrates the Same Truth
But to him who does not work but believes on Him who justifies the ungodly, his faith is accounted for righteousness, just as David also describes the blessedness of the man to whom God imputes righteousness apart from works:
“Blessed are those whose lawless deeds are forgiven,
And whose sins are covered;
Blessed is the man to whom the LORD shall not impute sin.”
He made Him who knew no sin to become sin at the cross so that you and I would become the righteousness of God in Christ
In our human minds we don’t fully understand.
Jesus became sin. All that He went through for you
He took every single one of your sin, from Adam to where we are today
We are holy blameless and without reproach
Jesus CANNOT sin
He does not have the ability to sin.
Today everything has changed. You have a new identity.
Understand who you are in Christ
Our new identity, knowing who you are will empower who you are in Christ
In Christ there is therefore now no condemnation
No separation from His love
A life of victory! We are more than conqueror through Him who loves us
How do we live this life out?
Romans 8:12-17
Sonship Through the Spirit
Therefore, brethren, we are debtors—not to the flesh, to live according to the flesh. For if you live according to the flesh you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the deeds of the body, you will live. For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, these are sons of God. For you did not receive the spirit of bondage again to fear, but you received the Spirit of adoption by whom we cry out, “Abba, Father.” The Spirit Himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and joint heirs with Christ, if indeed we suffer with Him, that we may also be glorified together.
Sin will destroy your life.
That is sin.
Christians need to realise we don’t have to live in our struggle because the holy spirit lives in us
It is not about us. It is by the spirit
Moment by moment living the life by the leading of holy spirit
He leads you because you are a son, not servant
Your Heavenly Father loves you
We are children of God. How are we lead by the spirit
Condemnation, guilt and shame will cause you fall deeper and deeper
You need to receive the love of the Father and you lose the taste
Teach us how to pray. Our Father in heaven
New covenant
We are His children. Loved by Him
When we receive the love of the Father, we know we love because He first loved us
John 16:7-11
Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you. And when He has come, He will convict the world of sin, and of righteousness, and of judgment: of sin, because they do not believe in Me; of righteousness, because I go to My Father and you see Me no more; of judgment, because the ruler of this world is judged.
Only when Jesus was raised, we can receive no condemnation
Ephesians 4:22-24
that you put off, concerning your former conduct, the old man which grows corrupt according to the deceitful lusts, and be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and that you put on the new man which was created according to God, in true righteousness and holiness.
You must always remember you are righteous and holy
Progressive sanctification
As you grow in grace, as you see Jesus, you are transformed in the same image from glory to glory
Ephesians 5:3
But fornication and all uncleanness or covetousness, let it not even be named among you, as is fitting for saints;
As Christ also have loved us
Say yes to Jesus. Say yes to Jesus’ love for you.
Because you say yes to Jesus you will say no to sin.
You need the Lord with you, moment by moment.
