Rev 1: 9-20 (ESV)
“I, John, your brother and partner in the tribulation and the kingdom and the patient endurance that are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos on account of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like a trumpet saying, “Write what you see in a book and send it to the seven churches, to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea.” Then I turned to see the voice that was speaking to me, and on turning I saw seven golden lampstands, and in the midst of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed with a long robe and with a golden sash around his chest. The hairs of his head were white, like white wool, like snow. His eyes were like a flame of fire, his feet were like burnished bronze, refined in a furnace, and his voice was like the roar of many waters. In his right hand he held seven stars, from his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword, and his face was like the sun shining in full strength. When I saw him, I fell at his feet as though dead. But he laid his right hand on me, saying, “Fear not, I am the first and the last, and the living one. I died, and behold I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of Death and Hades. Write therefore the things that you have seen, those that are and those that are to take place after this. As for the mystery of the seven stars that you saw in my right hand, and the seven golden lampstands, the seven stars are the angels of the seven churches, and the seven lampstands are the seven churches.”
Revelation 2:4-5 ESV
“But I have this against you, that you have abandoned the love you had at first. Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent, and do the works you did at first. If not, I will come to you and remove your lampstand from its place, unless you repent.”
What do you think about when you think about God?
The way you perceive God will determine how you receive from God and how you reveal God
If you think God is angry with you, or you think God is disgusted with you, you will not let Him develop you or come near you.
We all have a mental image of God
Jesus is gentle but Jesus is beyond gentle, He is great!
We serve a Saviour who did not just die for us. He is with us now in this place!
He is not dead! He is alive!
Jesus is the great High Priest
Jesus all God and all Man.
He is the ancient of days. He shows in the past and He will show in the future.
When you look into the soul of Jesus, He is pure of fire.
Is not my deed or work. It is His work!
It is all about Jesus. It is all about the love of Jesus. First love. The love you have at first.
Have you lost the joy of your salvation.
First love
Love makes you do crazy things.
It is about the First Love
Remember, recapture this first love
His grace covers all our sins, past present and future
It is about your availability!
Even our shadow has power! Even our shadow can turn things around
If you can use anything, you can use me, Lord!
Repentance is about making a turn.
You have to turn around to get to the right direction
It is specific
Our heart set on Jesus
When the father saw his son in a distance, he went running to his son
Slow is repentance but swift is grace
Our God is so gracious. He offers us relationship
You are alive in Christ!
Repent. Return.
Do the things you did at first.
Go back to what you first do.
First met Jesus, talk to Him and talk about Him
Always talking about Jesus!
Tonight i want to encourage you. To return. Do the things you did at first.
What is our light?
Our influence. Our impact.
We shine bright in the night.
No light is no church
Light does not come from how we look like.
Light comes from how we receive His love
Receive His mercy day in and day out.
You can be light in any season of your life.
You can be a light everywhere if you just keep your first love
Worry about receiving His first love
