Sermon Note
Pastor Lian
The thought about being happy. The gospel is the gospel of our happy God. A blessed God!
Stress is real. Even pastors are not exempted. A pastor preparing his sermon, he heard himself saying to himself “ last week sermon was so weak, what you are preparing now is even worse “
He admitted this as he was preaching.
Today Pastor Lian has a powerful Word for us. Nothing catches our God by surprise.
Many hearts will faint for fear.
Darkness will cover the earth and deep darkness the people. Arise shine! For thy light has come and the glory of God is upon us.
God will cause all His goodness to pass before us.
Even though there is darkness and deep darkness, we can arise and shine! His goodness is risen upon us.
Do not fear the darkness even though we see it!
The Lord will pour His goodness upon me. We can arise!
1 Peter 5:6-7
Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time, casting all your care upon Him, for He cares for you.
Depend on His hands. Not out own hands.
Exalt : Hypsoo
Exalt: lift up
- To raise to the very summit of opulence and prosperity
- To exalt to raise to dignity, honour and happiness
We have a happy God. Put ourselves under His mighty hands! He want to exalt us and raise us from a place of stressfulness to a place of happiness.
Romans 7:15
For what I am doing, I do not understand. For what I will to do, that I do not practice; but what I hate, that I do.
Fear brings stress. Anger and self effort comes in
This constant reminder of Christ’s finished work gives peace.
Everytime we look to ourselves, any transformation and improvement that would be made is up to me. We will fail.
Do out of right believing.
When we look to ourselves, it can lead to self doubt.
When we depend on ourselves we start to pity ourselves.
We give ourselves every excuses not to have success
Depending on self can make us self righteous.
God will exalt us in DUE TIME
Get up and say I am the righteousness of God in Christ.
I am bold as a lion.
We will experience our victory.
What we do in the meantime?
David is a man after God’s heart.
He had intimate walk with the Lord
1 Samuel 21:10-15
David Flees to Gath
Then David arose and fled that day from before Saul, and went to Achish the king of Gath. And the servants of Achish said to him, “Is this not David the king of the land? Did they not sing of him to one another in dances, saying:
Saul has slain his thousands,
And David his ten thousands’?”
Now David took these words to heart, and was very much afraid of Achish the king of Gath. So he changed his behavior before them, pretended madness in their hands, scratched on the doors of the gate, and let his saliva fall down on his beard. Then Achish said to his servants, “Look, you see the man is insane. Why have you brought him to me? Have I need of madmen, that you have brought this fellow to play the madman in my presence? Shall this fellow come into my house?”
He was captured and released
Psalms 56:1-4
Be merciful to me, O God, for man would swallow me up;
Fighting all day he oppresses me.
My enemies would hound me all day,
For there are many who fight against me, O Most High.
Whenever I am afraid,
I will trust in You.
In God (I will praise His word),
In God I have put my trust;
I will not fear.
What can flesh do to me?
He casted his care on the Lord
Anger, distracting ourselves, sadness, will not help us.
There will be many deliverances today
Cast all our cares on the Lord because He cares for us.
Immediately ! Immediately Jesus picked Peter up when he fell.
This is how much Jesus cares for us.
Peter was the one who denied Jesus 3 times.
Jesus left word to the angel and said “Go tell the disciples and Peter”
Everything we have gone through. The Lord knows intimately
Today God said cast ALL your cares upon Me for I care for you.
