[Sermon Note] Jesus, The Servant King Who Washes Our Feet

Luke 7:36
Then one of the Pharisees asked Him to eat with him. And He went to the Pharisee’s house, and sat down to eat.
The God we believe in, His heart is ready to forgive. This is the God of Israel. This is the God who forgive all our sins.
God loves you. Will you receive this love that can transform you?
To love is to be holy. But how do we love?
Matthew 22:37
Jesus said to him, “‘You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.’
The key is we knowing our God has loved us.
1 John 3:1
Behold what manner of love the Father has bestowed on us, that we should be called children of God! Therefore the world does not know us, because it did not know Him.
1 John 4:10
In this is love, not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation for our sins.
Why would a woman express her love to Jesus in this way? Washing His feet with her tears?
1 John 4:19
We love Him because He first loved us.
She received His love
Ephesians 4:32
And be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.
The power to forgive is we know we are forgiven.
God loves you. God has forgiven you. Don’t focus on the hurt of the past
Remember you are the beloved of God. Experience His love afresh and this love is the strength to forgive and to love
John 13:1
Jesus Washes the Disciples’ Feet
Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end.
What kind of love is the Lord’s love for them? He said He loved them to the end.
It means His love will never change.
The Lord Jesus loves you like that. His love will never change.
John 6:70-71
Jesus answered them, “Did I not choose you, the twelve, and one of you is a devil?” He spoke of Judas Iscariot, the son of Simon, for it was he who would betray Him, being one of the twelve.
John 13:3-5
Jesus, knowing that the Father had given all things into His hands, and that He had come from God and was going to God, rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.
John 13:8-11
Peter said to Him, “You shall never wash my feet!”
Jesus answered him, “If I do not wash you, you have no part with Me.”
Simon Peter said to Him, “Lord, not my feet only, but also my hands and my head!”
Jesus said to him, “He who is bathed needs only to wash his feet, but is completely clean; and you are clean, but not all of you.” For He knew who would betray Him; therefore He said, “You are not all clean.”
The Lord knew who will betray Him. The washing of feet speaks of the Lord cleaning us. This journey on earth will cause us to be unclean. That is why we need the washing of the Word.
Ephesians 5:25
Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her,
Ephesians 5:26
that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word,
The King of kings stood down to wash His disciples’ feet.
Everytime we listen to the preaching of God’s Word, we are in the cleansing
John 13:12-18
So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you. Most assuredly, I say to you, a servant is not greater than his master; nor is he who is sent greater than he who sent him. If you know these things, blessed are you if you do them.
“I do not speak concerning all of you. I know whom I have chosen; but that the Scripture may be fulfilled, He who eats bread with Me has lifted up his heel against Me.’
He made another reference to Judas
The Lord wash His disciples’ feet. One of His disciples is Judas’ feet. The Lord did wash his feet.
The Lord knew Judas will betray Him. Judas also knew he will betray Him.
The Lord’s eyes are filled with love for Judas. The Lord loves Judas knowing full well that he will betray Him.
Psalms 55:12-14
For it is not an enemy who reproaches me;
Then I could bear it.
Nor is it one who hates me who has exalted himself against me;
Then I could hide from him.
But it was you, a man my equal,
My companion and my acquaintance.
We took sweet counsel together,
And walked to the house of God in the throng.
Matthew 26:24
The Son of Man will go just as it is written about him. But woe to that man who betrays the Son of Man! It would be better for him if he had not been born.”
There is no sin that Jesus cannot forgive. Jesus loves you right now.
As He loves Judas, so He loves you.
John 15:13
Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.
God loves you. God cares for you. God is not holding your sin against you today.
Psalms 130:4
But there is forgiveness with You,
That You may be feared.
His blood has cleansed me. Today i am the righteousness of God in Christ. The child of the Most High God! Called out from darkness into His bright light!
A king fell in love with a prostitute and she became a queen.
One day they went out to the city. A man said to the queen i know you. You are the prostitute. She answered to the man. I am not a prostitute. I am a queen.
God loves you with an everlasting love. Whatever situation you are going through and have gone through, God loves you with an everlasting love.
